Workshop overview
Get ready to become a Habitat Hero! In this workshop, students dive into global habitats and discover how people and animals work together to protect our planet. Through hands-on activities, they will explore real-life challenges and learn what it takes to care for environments both close to home and around the world.
From the familiar bushland of Eastern Australia to the lush rainforests of Sumatra and the Congo Basin, students delve into the causes and impacts of habitat loss, gaining insight into how global challenges affects species both near and far. Students will uncover the wisdom of Aboriginal Knowledge systems, learning how cultural burning, seasonal calendars, and sustainable land management practices have long guided the protection of native animals and environments.
Working collaboratively, students become true Habitat Heroes as they design their very own Habitat Hero Plan: an innovative and practical action idea that integrates Indigenous knowledge, sustainability, and conservation problem-solving.
