19/10/12 - 6.22pmTaronga has been advised that the keeper injured earlier today at the elephant barn remains in a critical but stable condition in Royal North Shore Hospital.Some of her fellow keepers stayed at the hospital to provide support. Her family has requested that her privacy be respected.Pathi Harn, the young elephant involved, and the other members of the herd are fine and are in the elephant paddock.Off-duty elephant keepers came in today to continue to care for the elephants, and to support their colleagues.The Zoo’s Director and CEO, Cameron Kerr, said: “Our focus continues to be on the wellbeing of the keeper and supporting her fellow keepers. In the meantime, the investigation has already commenced so that we can understand exactly what occurred.ENDS
