Taronga Zoo’s Zoomobile is heading to pre-schools and primary schools in Narrandera from 25-27 November.

School groups from Narrandera can expect to encounter an array of interesting wildlife, including the Ringtail Possum, Children’s Python, Shingleback Lizard, Green Tree Frog and more.

Sponsored by the Department of Education and Training, Taronga’s Zoomobile aims to provide education and hands-on learning for school groups across regional NSW.

This particular visit will be Narrandera’s third Zoomobile visit in three years.

Designed to cater for school students that have difficulty travelling to the Zoo, the Zoomobile gives children the opportunity to meet, learn about and interact with native animals.

Zoomobile Coordinator and Learning Engagement Officer, Kerry Staker said the overall aim of the regional Zoomobile trips is to raise awareness and encourage the conservation of our native wildlife.

Kerry said it’s important to get children “appreciating and learning about animals”.

“Many children live too far away to visit the Zoo, so the Zoomobile enables us to bring the Zoo to them and encourage that connection with wildlife. It’s the animals in our own backyard that we want the children to appreciate,” said Kerry.

All Zoomobile visits will be delivered according to the students’ learning level and lessons can be tailored to the school curriculum.
