Taronga Dinner to raise vital funds for Asian Elephant conservation

A favourite on Sydney’s social calendar, this year’s Taronga Dinner will raise vital funds to support Taronga’s Asian Elephant breeding program and conservation partnerships.Hosted by popular radio presenter and comedian, Adam Spencer, the 14th annual dinner will be held at the Ivy Ballroom on Thursday, 19 June.Guests will have the opportunity to bid on exclusive auction items, ranging from a sunset dinner at Taronga Zoo’s elephant exhibit to an eight day Kenyan safari, with all money raised going towards Taronga’s work to help secure a future for Asian Elephants.Once common throughout Asia, Asian Elephants are now endangered with as few as 34,000 left in the wild. The main threat to wild populations is habitat destruction as a result of human encroachment.Taronga’s success with its Asian Elephant breeding program has seen three calves born at Taronga Zoo already. Taronga also provides direct support for field conservation initiatives in Thailand, Cambodia, Nepal and Sri Lanka. For Taronga Dinner tickets phone (02) 9978 4616 or email tarongafoundation@zoo.nsw.gov.au
