Sydneysiders can now experience Taronga Zoo’s amazing wildlife and harbour views from an entirely new perspective, with the opening of the new treetop high ropes adventure, Wild Ropes.
Opening just in time for the summer school holidays, Wild Ropes gives participants the chance to navigate a series of more than 60 exciting challenges over four courses, including suspension bridges, rope climbs and zip-lines, while enjoying a bird’s eye view of Australian animals, such as koalas, kangaroos and wallabies.
At heights of up to 10 metres above ground level, climbers will take in the sights of Sydney Harbour like never before, capturing their adrenalin-filled adventure with an on course action photo – a world first!
“Wild Ropes is an innovative eco-tourism experience that adds another dimension to Taronga, enabling visitors to observe nature from a new perspective, challenge their personal limits and enjoy spectacular treetop views of the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge,” said Taronga’s Commercial Services Manager, Marion Joyce.
“Wild Ropes has been designed as a low environmental impact, high adventure experience that encourages people to play outside – not online – and to reconnect with nature and appreciate our unique wildlife.”
From tweens and teens to travelers and corporate high fliers, Wild Ropes is designed to test the limits and provide an action-packed experience for adventurers of all ages.
“The response from participants over the first few days has been amazing. We’ve had everyone from 10-year-old school kids to an 86-year-old zoo volunteer tackling the course. Wild Ropes gift vouchers are also proving popular online as a unique Christmas idea,” said Ms Joyce.
Wild Ropes is collaboration between two of the state’s award-winning tourism operators, Taronga Zoo and Ecoline. Specialising in tree-based eco adventures, Ecoline has multi-site experience designing, building and operating ropes courses in ecologically sensitive environments.
Open to participants aged 10 and over, the up to 90-minute Wild Ropes experience includes access to two action-packed courses, one low and one high, with options available to add on bonus courses.
Great for families, friends, school groups or team-building events, Wild Ropes tickets are available for purchase separately to Taronga Zoo or in a bundle pack with Zoo entry. Adult entry to Wild Ropes is $35 and Juniors (aged 10 – 17 years) are $30.
