Taronga’s Zoomobile to visit Cascade

Taronga Zoo’s Zoomobile is hitting the road and heading to Cascade from 15–18 July.

The Zoomobile will visit Cascade Environmental Education Centre, giving local school children the chance to meet and learn about a range of native animals, including the White Lipped Tree Frog, Blue Tongue Lizard, Spotted Python, Ringtail Possum and Echidna.

The Zoomobile aims to visit regional areas, such as Cascade, where schools and communities do not have regular access to the Zoo and opportunities to witness native wildlife up close.

Taronga Zoo Learning Engagement Officer, Kerry Staker said the regional Zoomobile visits are highly valued as they enable school children to appreciate and learn about Australian animals.

“Many children live too far away to visit the Zoo, so the Zoomobile enables us to bring the Zoo to them and encourage that connection with wildlife,” said Kerry.

School students will be invited to meet and interact with the native animals, learning about how the animals move, what they eat, where they live and how we can protect their native habitat.

“It’s the animals in our own backyard that we want the children to appreciate,” said Kerry.

Cascade is one of a number of regional NSW towns that Taronga’s Zoomobile will be visiting over the next few months.
