Taronga Zoo’s elephant keeper Lucy Melo, who was injured 12 days ago, has made excellent progress in her recovery and was released from hospital last night. The zoo confirmed she was in good spirits and was commencing a period of rehabilitation.Taronga Zoo staff and managers have supported Lucy and the elephant team through this time and were very grateful for the ongoing expressions of support from the public.A zoo investigation to understand better how the incident occurred is making progress, but would not be complete for some weeks.Lucy’s partner Gary Miller said: “I would like to thank everybody for their messages of love and their prayers, which have absolutely contributed to her speedy recovery.”
