Zoo Grooves 2010 Announced

Taronga Western Plains Zoo is doing it all again with the third annual Zoo Grooves to take place on the October long weekend, Saturday 2 October, at the Zoo’s African Picnic Ground.  Zoo Grooves 2010 promises to be a fun filled day out with something for every member of the family including activities for children such as face painting, craft and a reptile show.  Mental as Anything will headline this year’s event with a number of other supporting acts to feature in the entertainment line up. Mental as Anything have been together for nearly two decades and are still delighting audiences with their popular, idiosyncratic brand of garage pop. Famous for their single ‘The nips are getting bigger,’ Mental as Anything are sure to rock Zoo Grooves, which has become a fixture on the annual Dubbo event calendar.   “Zoo Grooves is becoming an iconic event for the Dubbo community and this year we are hoping to build on the success of the previous two years,” said General Manager, Taronga Western Plains Zoo, Matt Fuller.  “If you haven’t been to Zoo Grooves before then come along this year and enjoy a great day out for the whole family in one of the most picturesque parts of the Zoo.”  Zoo Grooves has something for everyone with lots of entertainment, food and drink - the Grooves Bar will be open for the adults while there will be plenty of free activities to keep the kids entertained.   “The event will kick off at 2pm with gates open for event goers from 1pm.  Last entry into Zoo Grooves is 4pm.”  Proceeds from this year’s event will support the Zoo’s Sumatran Tiger conservation program. Taronga Western Plains Zoo currently holds five Sumatran Tigers. This species is classified as critically endangered, with only approximately 300 Sumatran Tigers remaining in the wild today.
