Minister for Environment and Climate Change, Frank Sartor today visited Taronga Western Plains Zoo to announce the official public debut of Indah the Sumatran Tiger. Indah, meaning ‘beautiful’ in Indonesian, is a three year old Sumatran Tiger who was born at Tiger Island at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast. Earlier this year, Indah travelled from Dreamworld by road to Dubbo to take up residency at what would be her new home. On arrival, Indah was placed in the Zoo’s quarantine facility to complete a 30-day quarantine period before moving from to the Tiger night yards and exhibit area. Over the past couple of months Indah has been settling in to her new environment and getting to know her keepers prior to going on exhibit.
