We would like to welcome two new additions to Backyard to Bush!
Our goat, BJ gave birth to two healthy and bouncy goat kids on Friday morning. Keepers were lucky enough to witness the births of both kids, an amazing experience for all involved.
BJ did extremely well and even had her first daughter, Frankie and mother, Eve watching over her the whole time for moral support.
BJ was not very well after giving birth to Frankie in August 2013 and Eve had to step in to help clean the tiny kid. Keepers then had to handraise Frankie with formula, as BJ was not strong enough to let her suckle.
It was a very happy moment for staff to see BJ doing so well during and after these births. She is strong and healthy and is being a fantastic mum.
Frankie is also now a big sister and can have fun playing with her new brothers.
We have named the kids ‘Joe’, after Joe Haddock (a retired keeper who celebrated his birthday on Friday) and ‘Keith’, because Keith Urban’s “Somebody Like You” was playing over the farm loud speakers during the birth!
