Red Kangaroo Joey gets a helping hand

Freddie the Red Kangaroo Joey came into the Zoo's Wildlife Hospital at about 11 months of age.  Because the joey was so young, it needed a keeper to feed and tend to its needs.  Over the past three months a zoo keeper has been hand-raising this youngster giving the joey three feeds a day as well as taking it to the Wildlife Hospital for regular check-ups.  Today, Freddie had his final check up at the Taronga Wildlife Hospital and is now ready to take the next step towards returning to the wild at a reserve located west of Dubbo in New South Wales to  gradually get used to the new surroundingss and learn to survive before returning to the wild.
