Taronga Western Plains Zoo’s Safari Park Playground has been nominated for an inaugural Premier’s People’s Choice Award for landscape architecture. One of six finalists, the African-themed playground has captivated and entertained children with its climbing structures, balancing beams, a ‘Masai shield’ mound, a timber ‘Pygmy’ hut and ‘Boma’ sand pit. It also includes a safari jeep, percussion instruments, rope bridges and a variety of animal sculptures. The Safari Park absorbs children almost as much as the animals do! It is a place where the kids can explore and learn about African animals in a fun and hands-on environment, and let their imaginations run wild! The winners will be announced this Thursday at Luna Park after being decided by a public vote.
