The weather is starting to warm up, the flowers are blossoming and this means it’s  Spring baby time at the Zoo .Already Taronga Western Plains Zoo has seen the arrival of two Spring babies including a Giraffe calf born on exhibit on 2 September and Zebra foal born in the evening on Sunday 18 September. Both newborns are doing well and can be seen out on exhibit with the respective mothers keeping a watchful eye over their offspring. The Giraffe calf has been named Mzungu, meaning ‘pale one’ in Swahili, as her coat pattern is one of the palest keepers have ever seen, whilst the Zebra foal has been named Neema, meaning ‘born in prosperous times’ in Swahili.    Check out these new babies along with the Meerkat pups which are growing up fast!
