Taronga is having an important safety evacuation drill after 3pm on Monday 8 December and all staff and visitors will be evacuated. The Zoo will not reopen on that afternoon, so if you are planning to visit at that time, it would be best to choose another day.
While the drill is primarily to train the staff to manage an evacuation, procedures are in place to look after the animals in an emergency. Vets and keepers would work together to move the animals to a safe location.
