Ruby is taking togetherness a bit too far with poor mum Blush. All mums out there know the feeling of not getting much time for themselves and Red Kangaroos take it to a whole new level. Red Kangaroo joeys will live in the mother’s pouch for about 6 months but even once they emerge they tend to stay very close as Ruby is demonstrating in this photo by keeper Bec. Even while the joey is still in the pouch, the female roo can become pregnant again. They even have the ability to produce two different types of milk to look after the needs of multiple young of different ages with one in the pouch and another on the ground at the same time! All of this means that poor Blush may not be getting any “me time” for quite some time.
