It’s time to celebrate as Taronga Western Plains Zoo’s newly redeveloped Savannah Visitor Plaza officially opens today.

Over the past year the Zoo’s 30 year old building that previously contained the Savannah Room, Zoo Shop, Bakhita’s Café and Kiosk has changed dramatically with the new Savannah Visitor Plaza streamlining services and setting the scene for discovery and exploration of the Zoo and its wildlife, showcasing the Zoo’s role in community education and Australia and international conservation.

The redevelopment sees the Savannah Visitor Plaza as a one stop shop where visitors will be able to purchase tickets, book Animal Encounters, grab something to eat or purchase a souvenir all in the one spot.  Visitors will also be able to access Bakhita’s Café, Zoo Shop and children’s playground which will all be part of a free access zone.

The new Savannah Visitor Plaza adds a new dimension to the tourism offerings in Dubbo and gives visitors the opportunity to experience part of the Zoo, and some of its amazing animals, for free!

The Savannah Visitor Plaza is a unique recreational area where friends and family can relax at the café and children can explore the wonderful safari themed children’s playground.
