Zoo Takes To The Skies

If you were to hear that Rhinos and Giraffe will be flying through the sky, you would definitely not believe it.  But now this is a reality with Taronga Western Plains Zoo and QantasLink joining forces to promote regional tourism with an initiative that will see the Zoo’s Rhinos and Giraffe flying through the sky on one of Qantaslink’s aircraft.


The striking images of the Giraffe and Rhinos are now grazing along both sides of the a QantasLink Q400 aircraft promoting Taronga Western Plains Zoo to the numerous people who fly on the Qantaslink network every day.


This joint initiative by the Zoo and QantasLink highlights the remarkable animals and conservation work of Taronga Western Plains Zoo at Dubbo in NSW’s Orana region and is the focus of a joint program with Tourism NSW promoting Zoofari Lodge stays and regional tourism .  It is a novel approach to connecting people with wildlife tourism in regional Australia.


The decorated aircraft will act as a flying billboard; a simple yet intriguing message that will travel to over 50 communities around Australia as well as Papua New Guinea.  It is an invitation to passengers to discover the wonders of wildlife at one of Australia’s premier open range zoos.


Taronga Western Plains Zoo is the largest tourist attraction within Central NSW and by promoting this attraction in such a unique way it will help encourage people to travel to regional NSW which will benefit numerous other tourism operators in the region. 


So next time you look to the skies you may see some Rhinos and Giraffe fly by.
