Nestled directly within the grounds of the Wildlife Retreat, The Sanctuary is a private haven reserved exclusively for our guests. It's a chance to experience intimate encounters with some of Australia's most iconic and adorable animals. Our guides will lead you on a 30-minute journey where you can get close koalas, bettongs, echidnas, pademelons and wallabies. Hear fascinating stories and deepen your connection with Cammeraigal country.
An afternoon Sanctuary Tour is included in every stay, running between 3pm and 5pm. You can book in your tour time at check-in. Tours do not need to be prebooked as we have multiple tours to accommodate all guests. If you have a preferred time please specify when you book a stay with us.

From the moment you arrive until the final hours of your departure day, the wonders of Taronga Zoo Sydney are yours to explore at your leisure. There is no need for tickets or passes. Your room key serves as a private passport, granting you seamless entry through our dedicated Wildlife Retreat gate and back into your room whenever you want to take a break and relax.
If you would like to explore the Zoo prior to checking into your room, make your way to The Wildlife Retreat reception where the front desk team will be able to hold your luggage and direct you into the Zoo.
After check-out our front desk team will be happy to hold your luggage if you wish to visit the Zoo after you have checked-out. We will be able to hold your luggage as long as needed and encourage guests to explore the Zoo at your leisure.
At the heart of The Wildlife Retreat lies N’gurra Lounge, a sophisticated communal sanctuary and the vibrant hub of your stay.
