There is no set duration for a self-guided visit. We recommend allowing 3–5 hours to explore the Zoo at your own pace.Cost
$15.50 per student for NSW Government Schools, or $19.50 per student for non-NSW Government Schools.
Taronga’s self-guided school excursions offer an engaging way for students to explore the Zoo and build their scientific and critical-thinking skills at their own pace.

In this depth study, students develop a practical understanding of how predictive inheritance models guide decisions to maintain genetic diversity in zoo populations. They investigate how science is used to forecast future population changes and explore the role of biotechnology in managing and protecting biological assets.

S6: It's Zoo Business
This self-guide resource explores how Taronga Zoo applies real-world marketing strategies to stay competitive and generate relevance for its conservation programs. Developed in partnership with the NSW Department of Education and local teachers, the program uses the Zoo’s operations as a case study to help students engage with marketing concepts in a practical, authentic context while experiencing the Zoo firsthand.
