Workshop overview

The living world is all around us, and there’s no better place to explore it than at Taronga Zoo. In this Stage 4 workshop, students step into the Habitat Classrooms to observe animals up close and learn about the structural features that distinguish different species.

Through guided investigations, learners compare similarities and differences in body structures, exploring how adaptations help animals survive in their specific environments. The workshop introduces students to scientific classification, equipping them with the skills to use observable features to group organisms and understand the evolutionary relationships behind these groupings.

Cells and Classification - Classification of living things.

Describe the characteristics of living things.
Classify species using scientific conventions from the binomial system of classification, including kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus and species.
