Workshop overview

Aboriginal Peoples are the First Custodians of Country, with knowledge passed through generations via stories, language, culture, and a lived relationship with Land, Water and Sky. These stories hold deep teachings about the natural world and the connections between people, animals, and place.

In this engaging Early Stage 1 workshop, students explore the natural features of Country through Aboriginal Dreaming Stories. Created in collaboration with Taronga Zoo’s Indigenous Education Officer and guided by our educators, students will learn how animals and landscapes are interwoven within Aboriginal culture, identity and knowledge systems.

Describe natural features of land, water and sky Country by engaging with Aboriginal Dreaming Stories and Languages.
Identify specific terms Aboriginal Peoples may use to refer to the Country they connect to.

People are connected to places and each other

Identify and describe how people care for places.
