Visit earlier in the day
Experience fewer crowds and see more active animals that may enjoy a sleep in the afternoon. Arriving by 9am is essential to book an animal encounter.

Get to shows early
On busier days, it’s best to get to the Seal and Bird Presentation Theatres at least 15 mins before show time to get your seat.
Look a little closer
Many of our animals camouflage to stay hidden in the wild, so take a moment to peek under bushes or high in the trees and you'll be surprised at who's watching.
Enjoy the views
Taronga Zoo is the only Zoo with views over Sydney Harbour. Grab a snack, find a picnic spot and soak up Sydney Harbour. Check the map to explore the best spots.
Stay hydrated
Bring a reusable water bottle and top up at refill stations around the Zoo. Bring your keep cup too and start your day with a coffee from one of our two cafés.
Looking for a quiet escape?
Step into native bushland and spot rare species, including Regent Honeaters, Rock-wallabies, Dollar Birds and turtles on the Blue Mountains Bush Walk.
