Sample Itinerary
Day 1
| 3.30pm | Arrival Check-in with the Taronga Western Plains Zoo team at the Billabong Camp and settle into the campsite. Note: Your stay includes two-day zoo admission, so you can arrive from 9am on the day of your stay and explore the zoo prior to check-in. |
| 5.00pm | Welcome Briefing & Lion Visit meet our team at the Dining Shed undercover area for a program briefing before taking a wander down to visit Taronga's resident lions. |
| 6.30pm | Dinner is served Join us at the Dining Shed for an Aussie BBQ before your evening tour. |
| 8.00pm | Evening Tour Experience a guided tour of our Australian Native Animal species (Duration: 45 mins approx.). |
| 8.30pm | Supper Return to camp for supper under the night sky. |
From 9.00pm | Lights out Settle into your tent, falling asleep to the sounds of the Zoo at night. |
Day 2
| 6.00am | Rise and Shine Awake to the sounds of nature and get ready to join your morning tour. |
| 6.15am | Breakfast Enjoy continental breakfast, served at the Dining Shed. |
| 7.15am | Morning Tour Tour the zoo and see some exotic animals as they wake up (Duration: 1hr 15 mins approx.) |
| 10.00am | Departure Pack up, check out with the team and enjoy exploring Taronga Western Plains Zoo at your own leisure with complimentary admission included with your booking. |
The Tents
Tents are 3m x 3m, made from heavy duty canvas with a solid floor.
They sleep up to 2 adults, or two adults + one child and are fully equipped with stretcher beds mattresses and a sleeping mat. Linen is also provided (sleeping bags, pillows and towels).
- Staying in a group of 4 or more? You will be allocated into adjacent tents.

Bike and Car Hire
For a real zoofari adventure, hire a bike or electric cart and explore on two wheels or four! Carts can now be pre-booked and collected on arrival from our Hire Centre.

Want to meet a meerkat, or stand tall with a giraffe? Get up close and personal with a thrilling Animal Encounters experience.
Tours
Book a behind-the-scenes experience and tour the Elephant Barn, get up early and book an Early Morning Walk or hop on the safari truck and immerse yourself up close amongst African species on the Savannah Safari.
