The course focuses on improving the knowledge and skills of veterinary staff related to wildlife triage, first aid, treatment and care. Accredited by the AVA and VNCA, the course includes 20 hours of self‑paced online learning (20 CPD points) and an optional one-day practical workshop to reinforce learning.

Bushfire-affected wildlife training

Supports assess, triage, and treat wildlife impacted by bushfires.

This free e‑learning module provides expert knowledge to help veterinarians and vet nurses confidently respond to bushfire emergencies. It covers welfare considerations, burn classification, smoke inhalation impacts, triage protocols, treatment approaches (including wound care, pain management and fluid therapy) and euthanasia criteria. 

Wildlife first response workshops

Building firefighters’ essential skills to protect and support wildlife during bushfires.

Feel confident to take action during fire incidents with the Wildlife First Response practical workshop, designed for NSW firefighters. Developed and delivered by Taronga Conservation Society Australia in partnership with the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), this hands‑on training gives firefighters the practical skills needed to safely and effectively support injured or displaced wildlife during fire events.

Taronga offers accredited and non‑accredited professional learning for teachers across all stages, including staff development days delivered at the Taronga Institute of Science & Learning.
