“Evolution shapes what animals are designed to eat.
When we learn to recognise those patterns,
feeding decisions start to make sense."
Michelle Shaw is Taronga’s Manager of Zoo & Wildlife Nutrition, with over 30 years of experience spanning research, consulting and professional training. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Animal Biology, a master’s in Animal Nutrition, and is currently completing a PhD at the University of Adelaide on the digestive adaptations of echidnas.
Michelle is known for making complex nutrition science clear and practical. By connecting evolutionary biology to real‑world feeding practices, she helps people at all levels build confidence in their nutrition decisions.
