Buy sustainable seafood, help save seals

Our oceans may seem endless, but healthy fish populations depend on the choices we make. By choosing seafood with the MSC blue fish tick label, you’re supporting independently certified, genuinely sustainable fisheries — helping marine life, ocean ecosystems and coastal communities thrive.

The problem

Almost 90% of the world’s fish stocks are depleted, over-exploited or fished up to their limit. This is bad news for the communities that rely on fisheries for their livelihoods and for the marine wildlife whose food source is being exhausted.

Wildlife affected

Seals aren't the only species affected by overfishing. There are many marine species that are impacted, too.

The solution

The solution is sustainable seafood!  Look for the the MSC blue fish tick label on food packaging to see if it's sustainable.

To achieve MSC certification, fisheries must demonstrate - through a rigorous, scientific and independent assessment process – that:

  • Stocks they are fishing are healthy
  • Their fishing practices have minimal impact on the marine ecosystem
  • Their business is transparently managed. MSC means that what you’re buying it is wild, sustainable and traceable

The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is an international not-for profit, dedicated to a healthy future for our oceans. Purchasing MSC labelled seafood creates an incentive for more fisheries, retailers and restaurants to produce and sell certified sustainable seafood.
