Over 200 Sydney high school students and teachers gathered at Taronga Zoo for Enviro Forum 2013.Taking place during Youth Week on Monday 8th April, students will attend special presentations and workshops to learn skills related to sustainability and to ignite their passion for the environment.Landscape architect and Australian TV personality, Costa Georgiadis, will share his passion for sustainable development, gardening, people and keeping our environment in balance.  Taronga Zoo Learning Engagement Officer, Cate Fredrickson, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for students and teachers to network with others who share the same passion for the environment.”“We hope to encourage the next generation of environmentalists, to make positive action, make change, and to spread this message throughout their communities.”Dr James Arvanitakis, Senior lecturer at the University of Western Sydney and 2012 Prime Minister’s University Teacher of the Year will also be speaking. His research topics include young people, citizenship and globalisation.“During the day, participants will also attend a seal presentation, learn about sustainable seafood practices and how they can help conserve marine life and our oceans,” Cate said.The event is an initiative of four Environmental Education Centres (EEC); Field of Mars EEC, Gibberagong EEC, Georges River EEC and Wooglemai EEC, in partnership with Taronga Zoo.
