As we continue gearing up for Taronga’s first bird festival, the bird department is also busy preparing for the coming breeding season including continuing our work with the critically endangered Regent Honeyeater. 

In July/August, 12 pairs of Regent Honeyeaters were introduced for the 2014-2015 breeding season and keepers have been working hard collecting spider web and other necessary nesting materials to provide for the birds. 

Several chicks have already been confirmed in nests and most others are incubating eggs.  Chicks bred over the season will become potential candidates for the 2015 release.
