Regent Honeyeater Release Day

Regent Honeyeater Release Day

Keepers got up early to give the birds a small amount of fresh wombaroo nectar before their big day.  I was watching them for quite some time and noticed that one was a bit unsettled with its harness that we're using the track some of the birds once released.

On closer inspection it appeared to have come a little loose.  I decided to catch it up because it was loose enough to have bothered the bird once it had it been released.  It was put back in the tent and it settled immediately.

The tents were opened at 9.30 and almost straight away nearly a dozen birds flew out.  The birds continued to fly out in small groups for the rest of the morning.

39 birds in the wild 38 to go!
