Taronga Western Plains Zoo Dubbo is looking for motivated and customer service focussed Guest Experience Volunteers to join our team and assist with creating transformational experiences for guests at our award-winning zoo!
About the Role…
Taronga Guest Experience Volunteers are at the forefront of delivering amazing experiences for the guests that visit Taronga Western Plains Zoo each year. Guest Experience Volunteers are enthusiastic and customer service focussed individuals who will learn and share about our conservation projects, community conservation messaging, animals and breeding programs with our visitors, inspiring our guests to be ‘For the Wild’.
Core duties
• Act as an ambassador ‘For the Wild’ and communicate effectively
• Represent Taronga in a positive and respectful light
• Provide excellent guest experiences that will promote positive behaviour change.
• Welcome guests with a warm and friendly smile
• Provide advice, recommendations and tips on what to see and how to navigate our extensive site
• Convey messages about Taronga’s conservation campaigns and animal breeding programs
• Be supportive of guests in grounds, offering assistance and wayfinding advice
• Support tour groups, encounters and a variety of experiences
• Work closely and effectively within a diverse team demonstrating flexibility & Good communication
• Be proactive in problem solving, including resolving customer feedback
• Lead by example with kindness and positivity
* Training and resources to ensure you have what you need for the above core duties will be provided
Position details
• The Guest Experience Volunteer role is available 7 days per week, Monday to Sunday.
• Our volunteers commit to a regular day per week OR per fortnight.
• Shift times are 8.15am-11:30am or 8.15am-1:30pm.
• Minimum commitment is 12 months, with options to extend
• Please note this role has NO direct animal contact.
• Successful applicants will be required to attend a short interview and induction/training sessions. Training and resources to ensure you have what you need for the above core duties will be provided
Other requirements
• A good level of fitness and stamina and the ability to work in all weather conditions for the full shift. You’ll be on your feet for the majority of the shift and can expect to complete about 5,000-10,000 steps.
• A passion for conservation and a willingness to learn about Taronga’s activities and programs
• Commitment, punctuality, reliability, and a professional, friendly manner
• All volunteers are required to have a current Working with Children Check (FREE for volunteers)
• Agree and comply with the Taronga Code of Conduct, Taronga Volunteer Policy and all relevant policies and procedures

Cost
A Volunteer Programs fee of $58 for successful applicants.
