Would you like to help out with animal observation and behavioural data collection to support a variety of projects across Taronga Zoo?
The Taronga Behavioural team are looking for volunteers to be a part of our behavioural team and assist with animal observation and data collection, supporting Taronga’s highest standards of animal welfare.

Taronga Zoo cares for many species with animal welfare being our top priority and focus. Our Volunteers assist with observation of animal behaviour, data collection and data entry. Successful applicants will receive basic training in animal observation and data collection by Taronga Zoo’s Behavioural team. 

• This role is available 5 days a week (Monday to Friday), 9am – 4pm 
• Applicants must be available to volunteer one day per week, with the option for fortnightly. 
• This position requires a commitment of 12 months
• All Taronga Volunteers are required to complete eLearning and attend induction and basic animal observation training.
   

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Be able to maintain accuracy and motivation with repetitive tasks
• Good observation skills
• Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish good working relationships
• Experience with Microsoft Office and other digital interfaces used for data collection
• Commitment, punctuality and reliability and a professional, friendly manner
• Experience with statistical analysis software (highly desirable but not mandatory)
  Please note: This volunteer role will have no direct animal contact
