At just one month old, Nkosi the male Giraffe calf at Taronga Western Plains Zoo is definitely growing in confidence each day.

In the mornings, it is not uncommon to see the newest member of the herd galloping around the adult Giraffe. The adults watch on as Nkosi gracefully gallops amongst them, covering plenty of ground with his long legs.

Like any newborn, Nkosi experiences bursts of energy, followed by quiet time, where he often picks a spot near the fence to sit down and have a rest.

Nkosi has recently started mingling with the herd for short periods of time across the day and this will only increase as he continues to grow.
