A female Barbary Sheep lamb was found by keepers abandoned by its mother and brought her to the Zoo’s Wildlife Hospital where vet nurses have been hand raising and caring for her since. For the first couple of weeks vet nurses concentrated on getting her feeding well and then recently introduced a goat kid as a companion to help her learn to socialise with other animals. The lamb is quite playful and has enjoyed frolicking from an early age, first with her carers and now she is getting to know her new companion, a goat.Over the coming weeks staff will monitor her progress and development as well as her socialisation with her goat companion.  Once she is ready and not dependent on her carers, keepers will aim to reintroduce her to the Barbary Sheep herd.
