Taronga is looking for Nutrition Volunteers in this hands-on role at Taronga Zoo, Sydney – Come and get an inside view of how we feed 5,000 animals! Taronga Zoo cares for a variety of species with animal welfare being our top priority and focus. Our Nutrition Volunteers assist with the preparation of food for a wide range of animals across the zoo. 

Animal Nutrition is the central hub for most of our Animal Care divisions, allowing you to gain insight into what food our animals eat, what enrichments are provided for them and how each animal prefers their meals to be prepared.  You will gain experience through assisting with the preparation of food for a huge range of animals across Taronga. 

Successful applicants will have the opportunity for real, hands-on experience in zoo nutrition.

• This role is available any day of the week, Monday to Sunday, 7am-2pm.
• Applicants must be available to work at least one day per fortnight, weekly preferred
• This position requires a commitment of 12 months
• All Taronga Volunteers are required to attend and complete induction & training
• Position located at Taronga Zoo Sydney

• Show commitment, punctuality, reliability, and a professional, friendly manner •
• Demonstrated skills in food preparation and an interest in learning about animal diets •
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail •
• Be able to maintain accuracy and motivation with repetitive tasks •
• Experience in food preparation is an asset •
• Enjoy working with people and the ability to work effectively within a diverse team environment

Please note: this role will have no animal contact
