Officially launching on Monday 12 August, Eco Detectives, a Minecraft computer game, brings conservation straight into the hands, devices and keyboards of millions of Minecraft Education users across 115 countries!  

To celebrate the launch we have one of the creators of Eco Detectives coming to Taronga Zoo Sydney to run workshops exclusively for our Zoo Friends Minecraft(ers), our own Kelly Pfeiffer! 

These workshops will be held on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 August at Taronga Zoo Sydney.

This game empowers students to act as conservationists in their local ecosystems using a series of interactive maps to raise awareness of the plight of species and wild habitats.  

By playing Minecraft Education Eco Detectives, students discover why their virtual ecosystems are out of balance and then take action to restore biodiversity. Quests within each of the Drylands, Woodlands, Wetlands and Urban biomes turn the player into an environmental change agent, aiming to complete tasks in each unique ecosystem by implementing small changes that have a big and positive impact on wildlife local to that area. 

All attending must bring their own device (laptop, ipad, smart phone etc) as they will need to use that to access and play the game

Things to make sure your kids have actioned before they come along

• Ensure they have the Minecraft Education app downloaded ready to go on their device of choice
• All Students/Players will have to know their school email address and password to access the game using Minecraft Education. Best to check these details work beforehand.

• Everyone coming on the day to play MUST download the Eco Detectives game beforehand

Limited technical support will be provided at the sessions, however we will not be able to assist with any device based issues so please check everything is working and has full battery before attending.
