Nura Diya Australia

Taronga’s new immersive experience, Nura Diya Australia is home to iconic and rare Australian species and the unique habitats that they call home.

The name Nura Diya is from Sydney First Language and means ‘This Country’; these words have been gifted to Taronga through ongoing and respectful consultation with First Nations People, including Taronga’s Aboriginal Advisory Group, Cammeraigal and First Nations staff.

Along the 400-metre walking trail, you will stroll amongst Kangaroos, come paw-to-paw with our Dingo pups, walk within the tree canopy to see Koalas up close and then venture into the darkness to see curious night-loving creatures.

These animals are some of the oldest and rarest wildlife found nowhere else on earth. We invite you to immerse yourself amongst native Australian flora and fauna, connect with Country and reconnect with nature.

Nura Diya Australia combines five unique landscapes; buru nura - Kangaroo Country, gulamany nura - Koala Country, wuragal nura - Dingo Country, nguwing nura – Nocturnal Country and Blue Mountains Bush Walk - ngununy nura.

Act for the Wild

Australia’s forests are home to wildlife found nowhere else, yet we have one of the highest rates of forest destruction on Earth. To save our precious wildlife, we must act now to protect the land we all call home.

What our guests thought of Nura Diya

Koala icon

Penelope - 33 years old

"Today we saw four very active koalas, and a couple of sleepy ones too. One was so close to the beautiful boardwalk path that you could see every detail from the beautiful fluffy ears to their strong little feet. My two-year-old squealed with delight as one koala backed carefully down a branch and hopped over to the a nearby branch to munch on some nice new gumleaves. She yelled ‘mouse’ at the top of her lungs and we all had a good laugh!"
