Assistant Behavioural Biologist  

Bronwyn Palmer is a dedicated professional with a passion for wildlife conservation and marine science. She began her academic journey by earning a Bachelor of Marine Science from James Cook University, where her fascination with marine ecosystems and conservation first took form. Building on this foundation, Bronwyn completed her Master’s degree in Marine Science and Management at the University of Sydney, further deepening her expertise and understanding of environmental stewardship. 

With a career spanning over a decade, Bronwyn has accumulated valuable experience in various facets of wildlife conservation and research. Working most of her career at Taronga Zoo Sydney and a secondment to Taronga Western Plains Zoo Dubbo, this has provided Bronwyn with many opportunities to grow and deepen her experience in animal behaviour, welfare and conservation management strategies. 

Currently serving as the Assistant Behavioural Biologist, Bronwyn's work focuses on the intricate aspects of animal behaviour, communication, cognition, and sensory ecology. She is particularly interested in how behavioural research can be applied to enhance conservation efforts and improve animal welfare outcomes. Her projects involve exploring the diversity of animal behaviours and studying how these insights can inform conservation practices, species and habitat management. 

Bronwyn remains deeply committed to making a positive impact in her field, continually seeking innovative approaches to wildlife conservation and management. Whilst advancing scientific knowledge and practical experience in the field, this will contribute to making a valuable impact in the ongoing effort to protect and preserve our natural world.
