Taronga Zoo's Work Experience program is for school students who are interested in pursuing a career in zoo keeping, animal care, tourism/education or zoo horticulture. The program is suitable for school students in years 10, 11 and 12.
In the interests of fairness, only one successful applicant per school will be considered and possibly assigned to a Zoo animal division for one week (Monday to Friday), excluding school and public holidays. Careers advisers and students are required to read and sign the work experience information package.
Taronga Zoo employs an Aboriginal Education Officer who contributes to creating a welcoming and supportive learning environment for indigenous students.

Taronga Zoo accepts students with special needs, as long as support is available and students are suitable for particular Zoo work areas. Please contact the Education Centre staff to discuss necessary arrangements.

- Australian Mammals

Applications for 2016 Work Experience are now open. To apply for work experience in 2016 at Taronga Zoo you need to download an application form and information pack. Applications need to be completed with your school and include the schools signed approval.
Once completed please post them back to the Work Experience Coordinator at Taronga Education Centre.
Please remember only 1 application per school will be accepted and priority will be given to NSW students. Applications close Friday 19th February 2016.
Ultimately your school will need to approve the work experience placement so please direct all of your communication to the school careers adviser. Please do not contact the Zoo as our arrangements are also subject to the school calendar and we will be required to contact the school.
