S4 E1: Jimiyu's procedure
In one of the biggest vet procedures ever performed at Taronga Zoo nearly 30 staff and specialists are involved in the risky sedation of their 5 ½ metre tall giraffe Jimiyu. A lot rides on keeper Jimmy being able to calmly lead Jimiyu into a barn where he will be darted with a strong sedative ahead of the procedure.
The public are invited to vote on the name of a cute new arrival, a one-month-old fur seal pup already winning the hearts of the marine team. And Taronga’s brand-new exhibit – Nura Diya Australia – is only weeks away from its scheduled opening.
With 14 species of native animals to source and move into the kangaroo & wallaby walk, a tree-top koala encounter, a dingo habitat, and a new nocturnal exhibit. The race is on to get everything ready in time for the big day.
Air date: Wednesday 22nd of November at 7.30pm on Channel 9.
