Helen Wright new Taronga Foundation Head of Fundraising and Development

Helen Wright has joined the Taronga Foundation as Head of Fundraising and Development.Helen has over 18 years of fundraising experience across a range of “not for profit” organisations including ActionAid Australia and Greenpeace Australia.” Helen said: “I am delighted to be working at Taronga and am already inspired by passion of the people working at the Zoos. Their commitment and the range of conservation work is remarkable.  I am looking forward to the exciting challenge of expanding the Foundation’s role across the community in support of these very special people and their vital support of wildlife.”The Foundation is the fundraising arm of the Taronga Conservation Society Australia, and since its foundation in 2000, has provided increasing support for the Zoos’ work. During this time, Taronga and Taronga Western Plains Zoos’ role in in the conservation of the world’s wildlife has rapidly expanded across projects from South Africa to South America and from frogs to elephants.Taronga is now at the forefront of wildlife conservation undertaking education, research breeding and conservation programs in national and global partnerships aimed at ensuring a sustainable future for people and wildlife.The Taronga Foundation raises money to support the work of the two zoos,  Taronga Zoo in Sydney and Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo. The Foundation’s fundraising has already contributed to world-class exhibits and facilities, ground-breaking scientific research and successful conservation initiatives both within our zoos and in the field.Helen is joining the Foundation as she leads her team to increase community involvement in the Zoos’ Corporate Partnerships, Events, Major Gifts and Bequests, and Public Fundraising.Originally from theUKwhere she worked for leading charities AgeUK and Cancer ResearchUK.  Helen moved to Australia to work for Greenpeace, then became the CEO of the agency ‘Face to Face Fundraising’, from there she moved to ActionAid Australia (formerly Austcare) where she headed up the Fundraising and Communications Team.For more information please contact Libby Greig on 0418 19 4554
