Nine schools from the Central West have been busy decorating Wild! Rhino sculptures in support of Rhino conservation.The colourful sculptures are ready to head to Sydney, where they will be temporarily located as part of the Taronga Wild! Rhinos trail from February to April 2014.The nine schools include Dubbo South Public School, Dubbo Public School, Orana Heights Public School, Wongarbon Public School, Anson St Public School, Coonamble Public School, Goolma Public School, St Pius X Primary School and the Orana Juvenile Justice Lincoln School.Each school has spent many hours coming up with their designs, creating them and also fundraising to help support rhino conservation.“The quality of design is outstanding from each of the schools. We are really impressed with the thought behind the designs and also the final products,” said Taronga Western Plains Zoo’s General Manager, Matthew Fuller.“They look amazing and the students and teachers should be really proud of not only their rhino sculptures but the fact they are helping to raise awareness and funds for the plight of Rhinos in the wild.”“Poaching continues to be on the increase and to be able to highlight this issue with such a unique campaign as well as raise funds to support Rhino conservation in both Africa and Asia is extremely important,” said Matt.The schools Wild! Rhino sculptures will join a herd of Rhino sculptures that will be popping up across Sydney and Dubbo and on the road in between from February to April 2014. Following the trail the sculptutres will return to their respective school to take up permanent residency in the school yard.
