Taronga’s Summer Holiday Adventures

#Taronga Zoo Sydney

During the Christmas school holidays, young Zoo explorers will be swinging around in the treetops, getting wet during some marine magic and giving a helping hand behind the scenes.

Now the age limit has been lowered, more kids will be able to take on the exciting challenge of the Zoo’s Wild Ropes course that snakes above the Australian Walkabout exhibits. Junior tree-climbers as young as 8 years old can now pit their skills against 60 obstacles, all while overlooking Sydney Harbour through Taronga’s trees.

Parents can sign their kids in to this spectacular 90-minute outdoor activity and retire to the cafe for a coffee in the Main Entrance plaza. Special packages are available for those who want to climb and explore Taronga in the same day.

With a low environmental impact, the adventurers will observe koalas, kangaroos and emus, tackle challenges such as a zigzag bridge, balance beam and flying fox, and appreciate nature from a brand new perspective.

The Wild Ropes course is also perfect for corporate team building exercises and Christmas parties.

For summer fun at ground level, kids can try themed Zoo Adventures featuring Taronga’s Centenary Legacy Species during the holiday break. Every weekday from 4 to 22 January, the Zoo will introduce a vulnerable species to the little adventurers, ranging from the Asian Elephants, Marine Turtles, Sun Bears, Regent Honeyeaters, Greater Bilbies, Corroboree Frogs, Platypus and Chimpanzees.

Zoo Adventures is a full-day vacation care experience that runs Monday to Friday for kids from 5-10 years of age. After being dropped off in the morning, the kids will have an action-packed day at the Zoo to learn about the wonders of science and nature.

The adventurers will also help keepers make enrichment toys and gifts for animals like our Sun Bears or the Chimpanzee group.

Through the “Meet a Keeper” experience, the young visitors will learn about Taronga’s exciting wildlife, and learn what they can do at home to help these endangered animals.
