Shoulder to Shoulder - The journey begins

The first day of Shoulder to Shoulder was really good. Apart from the fact that we had to make some changes due to the recent rainfall, and an area that we were going to go through was submerged in water, it’s been great!

Getting everyone ready to walk out of town was a mammoth effort and it was really emotional and exciting to have the send off from the Zoo. It was particularly good to have Uncle Peter there to perform a smoking ceremony to clear us and give us good energy for the journey ahead.

After day one we were all a little foot sore but we all slept really well at Wongarbon.

This morning the students at Wongarbon Public School gave us all a fabulous send off with some great song and dance, the walkabout song in particular was my favourite and so appropriate for the journey we are on.

A big thankyou to Bunnings for providing our cooked breakfast this morning as well as some camp chairs for our stop overs on the way.

The younger participants have departed us today and now staff and five young people continue on. We are on our way to Comobella for our next stop over point.
