Taronga Western Plains Zoo is a five to six hour drive from Sydney, Canberra and Newcastle. There’s so much to see and do along the way that we recommend you take it nice and slow.
Taronga Western Plains Zoo offers a variety of free and convenient parking options for visitors.
Visitors can park their car in the main car park at the Savannah Visitor Plaza and arrange push bike and electric cart hire, from the hire centre nearby. Alternatively visitors are welcome to walk or drive their own car around the 6 kilometre circuit. Parking bays are available along the way.
Taronga Western Plains Zoo has dedicated caravan and trailer parking inside the entry gates. There's also a free mobile home service point in this area.
Getting to the Zoo from Dubbo
The Zoo is a five minute drive south of Dubbo on the Newell Highway. If you don’t have a car, one of the easiest ways to get to the Zoo from the CBD is to take the bus. The public bus service operates Monday – Saturday, starting in the CBD, then via West Dubbo to the Zoo.
