Koalas
Thought to have once numbered in the millions, the iconic Koala could now be extinct by 2050. Sadly their plight was only worsened by catastrophic bushfires that decimated their habitat over summer. Taronga is working to nurse koalas back to health, restore their habitats, and breed insurance populations to keep this precious species around for generations to come.

Sumatran Tigers
The incredible Sumatran Tiger is critically endangered with only 400 left in the wild. These adorable cubs are part of a global insurance breeding program, and play an important part in the survival of the species. Taronga also funds Wildlife Protection Units in Sumatra to fight illegal logging, mining and poaching in and around the Sumatran Tiger's habitat.

Regent Honeyeaters
Taronga has been involved with the recovery program of the Regent Honeyeater for over 20 years and has bred and released over 200 birds back to the wild. These stunning birds help maintain healthy populations of our iconic eucalyptus trees through pollination, providing important food and habitat for many other native animals.
