Taronga volunteers are involved in a variety of exciting roles across both Taronga Zoo and Taronga Western Plains Zoo. 

Our dedicated volunteer programs below are suitable for adults (18+) looking for long-term (12 months or over) volunteering opportunities.

Guest Experience Volunteer

Visitor Services VolunteerGuest Experience Volunteers work throughout the Zoo providing information and interpretation about the Zoo and its animals to visitors. Visitor Services is suitable for those who like working with the public.

Life Sciences Volunteers

 Life Sciences Volunteers
Volunteer Keepers and Food Prep Volunteers assist the keepers with general keeping duties including cleaning exhibits and food preparation. Life Sciences is suitable for people prepared for hard work, early hours, all weather and manual tasks.

Youth At The Zoo - YATZ!

Taronga wants to support teens 13-19yrs who genuinely care about wildlife, so YATZ offers them the opportunity for fun and educational experiences at the Zoo during holidays.

Bush Regeneration Volunteers

 Bush Regeneration Volunteers
Bush care volunteers assist horticulture staff with bush regeneration and care, mainly of native foreshore property. Suitable for those with green fingers or those who simply enjoy the great outdoors. There are currently no vacancies.
